As far as The FA-Q ALLiance goes, it was an interesting show last night. On one hand, we were short a few key players such as Bubba and Dubs. This meant our crack sound master was out, it left us without 2 singers, our second and third seat drummers, our first seat Percussion, and our third seat Guitar player (and that really lowballs what Bubba and Dubs mean to us). On the other hand, we got to hear the debut of a new Band Member, the Chocolates. The Chocolates are a beautiful addition to the FA-Q Experience as they are JB Williams new Drum Kit. When you have a drummer like JB, it becomes very difficult to upgrade your drum sound. With the Chocolates, we still managed to accomplish that feat though.
Our show on Sundays does not revolve around the attendance of the FA-Q ALLiance, so long as we play Funky Like a Jew our crowd is always happy. Last night was dedicated as a tribute to Whitney Houston who passed away this weekend. Rainey, a lead singer with So What, was our special guest and really led a memorable tribute to the music icon. Fainey is always a treat to listen too, and being as Whitney was a big influence on the lovely young lady, she pulled out all the stops in her performance. You may have read me blogging about Rainey in the past, she was there and led us the night Sam Cooke's grandaughters came out and performed at our show.
There were two other highlight's to the night I would like to mention. Leah and Becca were two performers who came out and took the lead on the microphones and also represented very well. Leah played guitar and sang at the same time while leading her own set, she has a solid voice and is very much a rock and roll performer who entertained the entire bar. Becca has been a friend of FA-Q for several months, and has a great voice. Her rendition of Adele was foreshadow of the artist at the grammy awards. She has a beautiful voice, and played in front of FA-Q.
One of the highlights for The FA-Q ALLiance was our performance of Funky Like the Jew. Our main singer of our Original is Bubba, our backup is Dubs. With both of them out, Bryan the Cucumber took lead on our song and turned it out with Rap. It was a lot of fun and Bryan did a great job rapping it out. The show always goes on.

Seventeen different musicians worked their way through the Jam last night, with a number of good singers. Chaz is turning into a regular and is easy to work with, Jeff is a very versitile entertainer who sat in on several different instruments. Rob Roux came out but arrived too late to work into the Closing Jam. Dr. Funk, aka Chris Edwards, is practically a FA-Q member. Donnell is an extended member. We had a call out to Matthew Bailey, the reknowned Chicken Rapper. Brian George played on his harmonica, and Matt Harshaw came out for moral support but still hasn't taken the stage.
We had one genteman who came out but left rather early, I did not get his name, but we are hopeful he comes out again next week. We love new blood at the show, and honestly, you would have to be pretty bad not to get worked in for a few songs.
Our sound was difficult to setup with Dubs gone, but Phil Shriver got on top of it and by 10:30 we really had great sound working. This enabled Phil to go from sound to congas, then even to a few songs behind The Chocolates. We appreciate Phil stepping in and hope to see him more as the weeks roll by.

It wasn't our busiest night by any means, but the crowd was very supportive and a good group. I hope everyone tipped their servers, they definately worked hard all night to make everyone happy. Anna especially worked really hard last night.
JB and I shared the microphone and MC duties last night. Let's face it, when it comes to stage personality, JB really does click with the crowd. I on the other hand, remember when to speak up and when to annouce callouts on stage. Between the two of us, we pulled a Bubba.
We are now playing every Sunday at Sportstime, so come out and enjoy some great music!!
Until next week, FA-Q ALL!!
